Description:

Description: Introduced, cool season, perennial, erect herb 45–105 cm tall; bulb and numerous bulblets present. Leaves are linear, 2–10 in number, 19–23 cm long, 2–9 mm wide and sheathing for less than a tenth of scape. Flowerheads are loose, few-many-flowered umbels. Flowers are fragrant, with 6 white tepals 8–12 mm long, with pale green to brown markings along the midveins. Stamens 6. Flowering is in spring. A native of South America, it is a widespread and common weed in gardens, difficult to eradicate as the bulblets are easily dislodged. Date: 22 October 2014, 14:38.
