Description:

English: A Portuguese cross, carved by 19th century travellers on a Leadwood tree on the bank of the Letaba river, beside the S95 road near Letaba camp, Kruger National Park. It may have been carved by a hunting party of D. F. das Neves who travelled from Lourenço Marques through the current Kruger National Park to the Zoutpansberg in 1860/61. Or it may have been carved by one of the Portuguese soldiers who carried post for João Albasini between Lourenço Marques and Goedgewensch, Zoutpansberg.[1] Joao Albasini.
