Slo.: velecvetni naprstec - Habitat: moderately steep mountain slope, south aspect, next to a dirt road, sunny and dry place; calcareous, stony ground, exposed to direct rain; elevation 1.190 m (3.900 feet); average precipitations ~ 3.000 mm/year, average temperature 4-6 deg C, alpine phytogeographical region. Substratum: soil.Place: Above the dirt road along Kobariki Stol ridge, between Planina Boca and Mt. Starijski vrh, East Julian Alps, Posoje, Slovenia EC. Comment: Digitalis grandiflora, an Euro-Siberian floral element, is a beautiful plant. Its stately habitus, rich flowering, size and special shape of its flowers make a wonderful appearance in spite of the fact that its flowers are rather pale yellow colored. The plant is sometimes more than 1 m tall. It can be found quite often mostly in montane elevations among other tall herbs of mountain slopes. Digitalis grandiflora is widely distributed all over Slovenia as well as in Europe. It grows in almost all Alpine regions and other European mountains with exception of Pyreneans and Apennines. The plant is very poisonous, however also an old (and dangerous) medical plant.Ref.:(1) M.A. Fischer, W. Adler, K.
