Image of Kadua haupuensis Lorence & W. L. Wagner
Description:
Endemic to Mt. Ha'upu on Kauai. This species was discovered in 1998 with a sole population of 7 plants. Apparently goats later consumed the population. While it is extinct in the wild, seeds were collected on the original discovery and has now been propagated at the National Tropical Botanical Garden. See 'Kadua haupuensis, a new endemic species from Kauai, Hawaiian Islands by Lorence, Wagner and Laidlaw; Brittonia 62(2), 2010, pp 137-144.
