Herpestes smithii (Ruddy Mongoose) is a species of mammals in the family mongooses. It is listed in CITES Appendix III. It is found in the Indo-Malayan Realm. Ruddy Mongoose is a solitary, nocturnal insectivore. Individuals can grow to 1861 g. Reproduction is dioecious. Ruddy Mongoose relies on running to move around.
