It is native to Greenland, Saint-Pierre et Miquelon, Alaska, the contiguous United States, Canada, United States, North America, eastern north america, and western north america. Alpen Wacholder has simple, spine-shaped leaves, yellow flowers, and fleshy fruit. It is a photoautotroph.
