They are native to Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Portugal, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Syria, Albania, Bulgaria, Morocco, Spain, Lebanon, Turkey, Georgia, Israel, Cyprus, Iraq, Yugoslavia, France, Italy, Algeria, Iran, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Greece, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Russia, Kuwait, and Afghanistan. They have simple, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 0.39 m.
