Culms solitary or loosely tufted, 0.6–1.6 m tall, 2–3 mm in diam., smooth or scabrid below nodes, 7–9-noded. Leaf sheaths scabrid; leaf blades broadly linear, 15–30 cm, 10–15 mm wide, both surfaces and margin scabrid; ligule 3–6 mm. Panicle droop-ing, 15–40 cm; branches slender, 3–6 per node, up to 10 cm, ascending or spreading with spikelets in clusters along branchlets, scabrid. Spikelets 2.5–4 mm, green; glumes subequal, narrowly lanceolate, lower glume 1-veined, upper glume 1–3-veined; floret raised on 0.1–0.5 mm stipe; lemma oblong-lanceolate, 2.5–3.8 mm, 3(–5)-veined, scabrid; awnlet 0.2–1(–2) mm. Anthers 0.6–0.8 mm. Caryopsis ca. 2 mm. Fl. and fr. Jul–Sep. 2n = 28.

Culms erect or decumbent at base, scaberulous below the nodes, 3or 5-noded, 1-1 .5 meters tall; sheaths scaberulous; ligule nerved, scaberulous, acutish, lacerate, about 1 cm. long; blades scabrous, 10-20 cm. long, as much as 1 cm. or even 1.5 cm. wide; panicle usually green, oblong, loose, 15-40 cm. long, the axis glabrous below, scabrous above, the branches slender, rather distant, flexuous, fascicled, scabrous, naked below, spreading or drooping, the lower as much as 20 cm. long; spikelets 3.5-4 mm. long, acute; glumes scaberulous, the first 1-nerved, the second rather faintly 3-nerved; lemma faintly 3-nerved, a little shorter than the glumes, the awn as much as 1 mm. long, sometimes wanting; palea 2-nerved, the nerves very close together; prolongation of the rachilla minute.
Type locality: Europe.
Distribution: Moist woods. Newfoundland and Labrador to Alaska, and southward to Connecticut, in the mountains to North Carolina, to Michigan, Illinois, South Dakota, in the mountains to northern New Mexico, to Utah and central California; also in northern Eurasia.

Hajuheinä (Cinna latifolia) on monivuotinen lehdoissa tavattava kasvi. Suomessa laji on rauhoitettu ja se kuuluu Euroopan neuvoston uhanalaisten kasvien luetteloon.[1]

Ulkonäkö ja koko

Monivuotinen hajuheinä kasvaa lähes metrin korkuiseksi. Se on lyhytrönsyinen ja kalju. Lehden tupet ovat avoimia. Karheat lehdet ovat pitkäkärkisiä, kapeatyvisiä, 10–22 senttimetriä pitkiä ja 1–1,5 cm leveitä. Röyhy on 12–20 cm pitkä ja sen haarat ovat siirottavia tai nuokkuvia. Tähkylät ovat 3 mm pitkiä, yksikukkaisia ja teräväselkäisiä. Kaleet ovat tähkylän pituisia ja tasasoukkia. Ulkohelve on vihreä ja siinä on hyvin lyhyt, kaleiden peittoon jäävä vihne. Hajuheinä kukkii heinäkuussa.[2] Nimensä kasvi on saanut siitä, että sen kuivat versot tuoksuvat kumariinilta.[3]

Levinneisyys

Euroopassa hajuheinää kasvaa harvinaisena Norjassa, Ruotsissa, Baltian maissa ja Venäjällä, josta levinneisyysalue jatkuu katkonaisena Kaukasukselle ja Siperiaan aina Japaniin saakka. Yleisempi laji on Pohjois-Amerikassa, jossa sitä tavataan Alaskassa, Kanadassa ja Yhdysvaltain pohjois-ja keskiosissa.[4] Suomessa hajuheinää tavataan etenkin Hämeestä, Keski-Suomesta ja Savosta, muualta maasta on vain hajanaisia havaintoja. Kasvupaikkoja tunnetaan Suomesta alle 150. Hajuheinä lienee levinnyt Suomeen myöhäisjääkaudella.[1]

Elinympäristö

Hajuheinää tavataan useimmiten paikoissa, joissa vallitsee viileä ja tasaisen kostea pienilmasto. Tällaisia paikkoja ovat muun muassa puronvarsilehdot, louhikot ja kivikkoiset lehdot.[2][3]

Багаторічна трав'яниста рослина з коротким кореневищем. Стебла 8–190 см завдовжки, 1.8–3 мм діаметром, 4–9-вузлові. Лігула 1.3–8 мм довжиною, тупа. Листові пластини 15–25 см × 1–20 мм, шорсткі з обох сторін. Суцвіття — відкрита волоть, ланцетна або яйцеподібна, щільна або пухка, похила, 3–46 см завдовжки, 0.5–20 см завширшки. Колоски поодинокі. Зернівки довгасті 1.8–2.8 мм завдовжки[1].

Поширення

Поширений у пн.-сх. Європі, помірній Азії й Кавказі, Північній Америці. В Україні вид не росте.[2][3][1].

Листья, листовое влагалище и колосок цинны широколистной

Многолетние травянистые растения до 1—2 м высотой, неопушённые. Листья шершавые, 10—22 см длиной и 1—1,5 см шириной. Соцветиекисть, собранная из колосков от зелёного до чуть пурпурного цвета. Цветёт поздним летом и осенью.

Распространение и местообитание

Произрастает в Европе и Северной Америке. В Европе изредка встречается в Норвегии, Швеции, Финляндии, странах Прибалтики и России, также встречается в разрозненных местах в Сибири, в Японии и на Кавказе. Более часто этот вид встречается в Северной Америке, где растёт на Аляске, в Канаде и северных и центральных штатах США.

Цинна широколистная предпочитает места с прохладным, мягким, влажным микроклиматом, например, речных берегах.
