Leersia hexandra (Southern Cutgrass) is a species of perennial herb in the family true grasses. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to Puerto Rico, Cerrado, Caatinga, ParaíBa, Amapá, Bahia, Amazônia, Maranhao, Ceará, Mata Atlântica, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Pantanal, The Contiguous United States, Mato Grosso, Paraná, Santa Catarina, Pernambuco, Sergipe, Rio Grande Do Norte, GoiáS, Minas Gerais, Pará, Rio De Janeiro, Eastern North America, SãO Paulo, Rio Grande Do Sul, and Pampa. They have simple, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 0.58 m.
