Oplismenus hirtellus (Basketgrass) is a species of perennial grass in the family true grasses. They are climbers. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Distrito Federal, Puerto Rico, Ceará, ParaíBa, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso Do Sul, SãO Paulo, Maranhao, Cerrado, Bahia, Acre (Brazil), Pernambuco, Espirito Santo, U.S. Virgin Islands, Pacific Basin excluding Hawaii, GoiáS, Pará, Roraima, Pantanal, Alagoas, Amazônia, Piauí, Rio De Janeiro, Minas Gerais, The Contiguous United States, Mata Atlântica, Rio Grande Do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná, and Caatinga. They have simple, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 2 m.
