Oplismenus hirtellus (Basketgrass) is a species of perennial grass in the family True grasses. It is a climber. It has a self-supporting growth form. Basketgrass is native to Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Pacific Basin excluding Hawaii, the contiguous United States, Paraná, São Paulo, Mata Atlântica, Alagoas, Santa Catarina, Distrito Federal, Pernambuco, Mato Grosso, Pará, Paraná, Mata Atlântica, Caatinga, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rio de Janeiro, Goiás, Ceará, Amazônia, Maranhao, São Paulo, Acre (Brazil), Amazônia, Paraíba, Roraima, Rio Grande do Sul, Pantanal, Espirito Santo, Cerrado, Bahia, and Piauí. It has simple, broad leaves. It is a photoautotroph. Individuals can grow to 2 m.
