Ricefield Flatsedge is native to Pacific Basin excluding Hawaii, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Mata Atlântica, Santa Catarina, Maranhao, Pará, Bahia, Amapá, Cerrado, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pantanal, Acre (Brazil), Amazônia, Distrito Federal, São Paulo, Paraíba, Rio Grande do Norte, Tocantins, Goiás, Amazônia, Rondônia, Piauí, Ceará, Sergipe, Alagoas, Rio de Janeiro, Espirito Santo, Pernambuco, Caatinga, Rio Grande do Sul, Pampa, and Roraima. It has simple, broad leaves. It is a photoautotroph.
