Castanea crenata (Japanese Chestnut) is a species of tree in the family Fagaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Sphaerophoria, Dermestes haemorrhoidalis, Melanostoma scalare, and Chlorophorus japonicus. Individuals can grow to 16.7 m.
