Bivalvia (Mussels) is a group of molluscs. There are 11253 species of mussels, in 1775 genera and 154 families. This group has been around since the Phanerozoic Eon. Mussels form shallow marine sediments. They have sexual reproduction. Reproduction is dioecious. Mussels are facultatively mobile animals.
