Mussels is a group of molluscs. There are 11253 species of mussels, in 1775 genera and 154 families. This group has been around since the Phanerozoic Eon. Bivalvia (mussels) have sexual reproduction. Reproduction is dioecious. Bivalvia (mussels) is a facultatively mobile animal.
