Substratum: soil.Place: Near Jezersko village, Gorenjska, Slovenia EC Comment: Growing in groups of many species. Truly endangered by collectors of flowers. Protected according to 'Uredba o zavarovanih prosto iveih rastlinskih vrstah' Ur.l. RS, t. 46/2004. Enlisted in the Slovene Red List of rare and endangered species, marked by "V" representing a vulnerable species. Ashland, Oregon near forest opening/meadow. To the east in the Cascade Range were populations of Cypripedium montanum (not yet in bloom) and to the near west in the Kalmiopsis Wilderness were hundreds of C. californicum growing with Darlintonia californica. Looking for these photos. Was a memorable spring/summer!

Seen during the field trips to Plumas Co, CA at our Native Orchid Conference in June 2013 These flowers seemed smaller than ones that I had seen in southwestern OR but those plants were growing in full sun.
