Ranunculus (Buttercup) is a genus of herb in the family Ranunculaceae. They are native to Canada, Saint-Pierre Et Miquelon, Puerto Rico, Greenland, Alaska, The Contiguous United States, and Hawaii. They have achenes. Flowers are visited by hoverfly, Meliscaeva auricollis, Chelostoma philadelphi, and Lycocerus lineatipennis. Individuals can grow to 3.2 m.
