Gallinula chloropus (Common Moorhen) is a species of birds in the family rails. It is associated with freshwater habitat. It is found in Oceania (Australia and islands), the Neotropics, Australasia, the Nearctic, the Indo-Malayan Realm, the Afrotropics, and the Palearctic. Common Moorhen is a diurnal omnivore. Individuals can grow to 493 g. Reproduction is dioecious. Common Moorhen has parental care (cooperative breeding). It relies on flight to move around.
