Aythya americana (Redhead) is a species of birds in the family Anatidae. It is associated with freshwater habitat. It is found in the Nearctic and the Neotropics. Redhead is a diurnal herbivore. Individuals can grow to 1450 g. Reproduction is dioecious. Redhead has parental care (only female provides care). It relies on flight to move around.
