It is native to Equatorial Guinea, Liberia, Rwanda, the Central African Republic, Kenya, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sierra Leone, Swaziland, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Namibia, South Africa, Ethiopia, Lesotho, Sudan, Sao Tome and Principe Exclusive Economic Zone, Guinea, Gabon, Angola, Cameroon, Tanzania, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Burundi, Côte d’Ivoire, Botswana, Zambia, Uganda, Somalia, Mozambique, and Nigeria. Individuals can grow to 8.9 g. Reproduction is dioecious.
