Coturnix japonica (Japanese Quail) is a species of birds in the family Phasianidae. It is listed as near threatened by IUCN. It is found in the Indo-Malayan Realm and the Palearctic. Individuals can grow to 105 g. Reproduction is dioecious. Japanese Quail relies on flight to move around.
