Rostratula benghalensis (Greater Painted Snipe) is a species of birds in the family painted snipes. It is associated with freshwater habitat. It is found in the Afrotropics, the Indo-Malayan Realm, Australasia, and the Palearctic. Greater Painted Snipe is a crepuscular omnivore. Individuals can grow to 164 g. Reproduction is dioecious. Greater Painted Snipe has parental care (only male provides care). It relies on flight to move around.
