Purpurocardia purpurata is a species of mussels in the family cardita clams. It is native to New Zealand Exclusive Economic Zone. Purpurocardia purpurata form shallow marine sediments. It is a suspension feeder. Individuals can grow to 6.55 g. Purpurocardia purpurata has sexual reproduction. It is a facultatively mobile animal.
