Sarotherodon melanotheron (Blackchin Mouthbrooder) is a species of ray-finned fishes in the family Cichlidae. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to Ethiopia. They are nocturnal detritivores. Individuals can grow to 28 cm. They have sexual reproduction. They have parental care (female provides care and paternal care). They rely on swimming to move around.
