Cynara cardunculus (Cardoon) is a species of perennial herb in the family Asteraceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Spain, Morocco, France, Yugoslavia, Portugal, Tunisia, Italy, Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, and Libya. They have simple, simple leaves. Flowers are visited by Anoxia australis, Apis mellifera, Buff-tailed bumblebee, and Large garden bumblebee. Individuals can grow to 0.8 m.
