Yellow Star Thistle is native to western north america, Iraq, Tunisia, Yugoslavia, Lebanon, Turkey, Greece, Tajikistan, Iran, Italy, Russia, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Syria, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Algeria, Spain, France, Albania, Georgia, and Bulgaria. It has simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Woodland Skipper. Yellow Star Thistle is a photoautotroph. Individuals can grow to 0.54 m.
