Helianthus petiolaris (Prairie Sunflower) is a species of annual herb in the family Asteraceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to The Contiguous United States, Canada, and North America. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Lemonias, Six-spotted Flower Strangalia, Gray Hairstreak, and Common Branded Skipper. Individuals can grow to 3 m.
