Senecio vulgaris (Groundsel) is a species of annual herb in the family Asteraceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to South Korea, Russia, Hungary, France, Yugoslavia, Belarus, Austria, Finland, Czech Republic, Sweden, Libya, Poland, Norway, Germany, China, Ireland, The Netherlands, Ukraine, Estonia, Albania, North Korea, Spain, Greece, Denmark, Tunisia, Italy, Faroe Islands, Latvia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Portugal, Lithuania, Georgia, Iran, Moldova, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Iceland, Morocco, Algeria, and Romania. They have simple, broad leaves and yellow flowers. Flowers are visited by Syrphid fly, Scaeva pyrastri, Gray Hairstreak, and Scolia hirta. Individuals can grow to 1.5 feet.
