Acanthospermum australe (Paraguayan Starbur) is a species of perennial herb in the family Asteraceae. It has a self-supporting growth form. It is native to Rondônia, Pampa, Amazônia, São Paulo, Amazônia, Rio Grande do Sul, Roraima, Distrito Federal, Mata Atlântica, Goiás, Ceará, Pantanal, Santa Catarina, Alagoas, Paraíba, Espirito Santo, Pernambuco, Cerrado, Bahia, Mato Grosso do Sul, Piauí, Tocantins, Sergipe, Pará, Rio de Janeiro, Mato Grosso, Paraná, Caatinga, Minas Gerais, Maranhao, and the Neotropics. Paraguayan Starbur has simple, broad leaves. It is a photoautotroph.
