They are native to Mata AtlâNtica, Caatinga, Pernambuco, Maranhao, Bahia, Rio De Janeiro, Alagoas, ParaíBa, Minas Gerais, SãO Paulo, Piauí, Sergipe, Ceará, and Rio Grande Do Norte. They have compound, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 2 m.
