It is native to Yemen, South Africa, Mozambique, Swaziland, Lesotho, Somalia, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Angola, India, Madagascar, Malawi, and Tanzania. It has simple, broad leaves and yellow flowers. It is a photoautotroph. Individuals can grow to 9.2 m.
