Balanites aegyptiaca (Desert Date) is a species of tree in the family Zygophyllaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Ceylalictus variegatus, Cellariella somalica, Ceylalictus congoensis, and Nomioides rotundiceps. Individuals can grow to 15 m.
