Sterculia apetala is a species of tree in the family Malvaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Cerrado, GoiáS, AmazôNia, Pará, and Acre (Brazil). They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Trigona fuscipennis, Oxytrigona mellicolor, and Scaptotrigona pectoralis. Individuals can grow to 40 m.
