Palhinhaea cernua (Monkey's Paw) is a species of perennial herb in the family club mosses. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Maranhao, Hawaii, Alagoas, Amapá, Santa Catarina, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Minas Gerais, Roraima, SãO Paulo, Pará, Cerrado, Puerto Rico, Paraná, Bahia, The Contiguous United States, Mata Atlântica, Espirito Santo, AmazôNia, Pampa, Pernambuco, GoiáS, Ceará, U.S. Virgin Islands, Mato Grosso, Pantanal, RondôNia, Tocantins, Pacific Basin excluding Hawaii, Acre (Brazil), Rio Grande Do Sul, Distrito Federal, Rio De Janeiro, and ParaíBa. They have simple, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 1.7 m.
