Kwikala Nkanga

galpinii: named for E.E. Galpin, S African naturalist and collector (1858 - 1941).

Medium to large deciduous tree. Prickles in opposite pairs, short, broad and hooked. Flowers in long slender spikes, cream to pale yellow, the calyces showing red before the flowers open. The pods are long, up to 25cm, flat and hairless.
