It is native to the contiguous United States, Pampa, Bahia, Caatinga, Pernambuco, Mato Grosso do Sul, Maranhao, Rio de Janeiro, Piauí, Alagoas, Goiás, Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo, Espirito Santo, Pantanal, Ceará, Cerrado, Sergipe, Pará, Distrito Federal, Minas Gerais, Santa Catarina, Amazônia, Mato Grosso, Rio Grande do Norte, Mata Atlântica, Paraná, and Paraíba. Epiphytic Flat Sedge has simple, broad leaves. It is a photoautotroph. Individuals can grow to 0.16 m.
