They are native to Coral Sea, Australian Exclusive Economic Zone, Tasman Sea, Great Australian Bight, New Zealand Exclusive Economic Zone, and Bass Strait. Dead Tenagodus weldii form shallow marine sediments. They have sexual reproduction.
