Cells rounded to oblong, laterally flattened, apical end more or less obliquely flattened, posterior end occasionally pointed; flagella two, slightly subapical, unequal; longer flagellum pointed forward, shorter flagellum to the side; one chloroplast, twisted or curved, yellow-brown to yellow-green, with distinct, red, apical stigma; vacuoles 3-5, along the side or in anterior part of cytoplasm; cell length 3.5-6.5 microns; longer flagellum 1-2 times cell length.
