Ipomoea purpurea (Tall Morning Glory) is a species of annual herb in the family Convolvulaceae. It is a climber. It is associated with freshwater habitat. Tall Morning Glory is native to Pará, Rio de Janeiro, Distrito Federal, Cerrado, Sergipe, Mato Grosso, Mata Atlântica, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, Maranhao, Amazônia, Pernambuco, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso do Sul, Espirito Santo, Amazônia, Acre (Brazil), Caatinga, Bahia, São Paulo, and Santa Catarina. It has simple, broad leaves and red flowers. Flowers are visited by Anatrytone logan. Tall Morning Glory is a photoautotroph. Individuals can grow to 2 m.
