They are native to U.S. Virgin Islands, The Contiguous United States, Sergipe, North America, GoiáS, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Bahia, Acre (Brazil), Mata Atlântica, Rio Grande Do Norte, Tocantins, AmazôNia, Puerto Rico, Alagoas, Pernambuco, Mato Grosso, Ceará, Paraná, Hawaii, ParaíBa, Pantanal, Cerrado, Eastern North America, Rio De Janeiro, SãO Paulo, Minas Gerais, and Pará. They have compound, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 13 m.
