Ceiba pentandra (Kapok Tree) is a species of tree in the family Malvaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Puerto Rico, Maranhao, Acre (Brazil), Roraima, U.S. Virgin Islands, AmazôNia, and Pará. They have compound, broad leaves and white flowers. Flowers are visited by Little Flying Cow, African Straw-colored Fruit Bat, Indian Flying Fox, and Pemba Flying Fox. Individuals can grow to 150 feet.
