They are native to GoiáS, Cerrado, AmazôNia, Pernambuco, Santa Catarina, Bahia, Paraná, SãO Paulo, Distrito Federal, Acre (Brazil), Minas Gerais, Rio De Janeiro, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Alagoas, Mato Grosso, ParaíBa, Mata Atlântica, and Caatinga. They have simple, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 1.9 m.
