Amaranthus spinosus (Spiny Amaranth) is a species of shrub in the family pigweed. It has a self-supporting growth form. It is native to U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and the contiguous United States. Spiny Amaranth has simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Pseudapis amoenula (Gerstäcker 1870). Spiny Amaranth is a photoautotroph. Individuals can grow to 0.87 m. Reproduction is monoecious.
