2011-10-09 Vienna XXII. district - Danube National Park (Lobau
Hausgraben - bayou 153 msm Quadrant 7865/1).Lobau Hausgraben alluvial forest is slightly irregular concerning the dominant tree species: it isn't clearly a 'soft wood forest' (Salix, Populus) nor a 'hard wood forest' (oak, ash, acorn, etc.).Dominant species here are Acer pseudoplatanus, which by the way might not even be native to Danube alluvial forests (its indigenous status for this region is questioned by many botanists - it is more at home in ravine forests), Fraxinus excelsior, and several Populus species (P. alba,
P. nigra, and the hybrid P. canescens); Salix
(alba & others) and Acer campestre are present but not dominant, and other trees are represented in smaller numbers (like e. g.
Ulmus).
