It is native to Pacific Basin excluding Hawaii, Niue, Palau, Indonesia, Fiji, Guam, Cook Islands, Tonga, New Caledonia, Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, Solomon Islands, French Polynesia, Micronesia, and Australia. Oriental Vessel Fern has compound, broad leaves. It is a photoautotroph. Individuals can grow to 12 m.
