Test: pyriform or with distinct neck, some species with lateral ridge, mostly oval in cross-section, composed of endogenous, siliceous, quadrangular, non-overlaping plates. Test colourless, transparent. Shape very similar to certain Nebela spp. Nucleus always ovular. Feeding: herbivore. Habitat: sphagnum mosses, soil. Type species: Quadrulella symmetrica (Wallich, 1863).
