Description

Shrub or small to medium sized deciduous tree. Bark pale brown to grey, peeling in narrow strips in older specimens. Leaves imparipinnate with up to 5-7 leaflets; leaflets ovate, oblong to almost round, from 5.5 × 4cm to 12 × 12cm, shiny green; apex rounded to almost square; margin entire. Stipules conspicuous, large and shield-like, up to 2.5 cm wide (image no. 2). Flowers in dense axillary and terminal sprays, golden-yellow. Fruit a flattened oval pod, up to 10 × 7.5 cm, markedly swollen over the single seed, surrounded by a thick membranous wing.
