Medicago sativa (Alfalfa) is a species of perennial herb in the family Fabaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They have compound, broad leaves and purple flowers. Flowers are visited by Pipevine Swallowtail, Woodland Skipper, Osmia laeta, and cabbage butterfly. Individuals can grow to 2 feet.
