Asparagus officinalis (Garden Asparagus) is a species of perennial herb in the family Asparagaceae. It has a self-supporting growth form. It is native to Armenia, Lebanon, Hungary, Tunisia, Greece, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Italy, Switzerland, Portugal, Algeria, Iran, France, Turkey, Russia, Yugoslavia, Poland, Afghanistan, Romania, Moldova, Denmark, Morocco, Spain, Georgia, the Netherlands, Albania, Belgium, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, China, Mongolia, Germany, Syria, and Austria. Garden Asparagus has simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Small Carpenter Bees. Garden Asparagus is a photoautotroph. Individuals can grow to 0.69 m.
