Elephas maximus (Asian Elephant) is a species of Elephantidae in the family Elephantidae. They are listed as endangered by IUCN and in cites appendix i. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to Asia. They are solitary, diurnal herbivores. Individuals are known to live for 960 months and can grow to 1919.2 mm. Reproduction is viviparous. They have parental care (female provides care and cooperative breeding).
