Piper hispidum (Jamaican Pepper) is a species of shrub in the family Piperaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Pará, GoiáS, Acre (Brazil), Tocantins, Paraná, Santa Catarina, ParaíBa, Sergipe, Roraima, Amazônia, Cerrado, Bahia, SãO Paulo, Mata Atlântica, Puerto Rico, Alagoas, Pernambuco, RondôNia, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Distrito Federal, Rio De Janeiro, Amapá, Espirito Santo, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, Rio Grande Do Sul, and Ceará. They have simple, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 3 m.
