Hesperoxalis trilliifolia (Hook.) Small
O.valis trilliifolia Hook. Fl. Bor. Am. 1 : 118. 1831.
Plants 1-3 dm. tall, with stout rootstocks ; leaves erect, the petioles elongate, sometimes conspicuously so, glabrous or pubescent at the top, the leaflets 2.5-4.5 cm. wide, glabrous above, at least in age, with scattered hairs beneath, and glaucous, sometimes ciliolate ; scapes about as long as the leaves or somewhat longer, glabrous or with few scattered hairs near the top ; umbel-like cyme with 2-8 pedicels which become 2-3 cm. long ; sepals lanceolate to oblong-lanceolate, becoming 5-5.5 mm. long, sparingly ciliate near the tip ; petals white or pale-pink, 8-14 mm. long, deeply notched; androecium and gynoecium glabrous ; capsules erect or nearly so, 2.5-3 cm. long, the beak often about one half as long as the body.
Type locality : Near the Grand Rapids of the Columbia River. Distribution : Washington and Oregon.
